In Queen of the Cascades a boat is ready to leave for Miklagård (today’s Istanbul). Halvdan wants to find his father who has been on a Viking journey for the past five years. Halvdan, Maia and Björn offer their help as rowers if they can go to Miklagård with Grimulf and his men. The voyage there is a dizzy adventure. They are attacked by pirates, they encounter a true berserk, meet Patzinaks and Jomsvikings before they finally reach the Queen of the Cascades. It is only then that they face the greatest danger of all: a life-threatening journey through the seven boiling cascades at the outlet of the Dnieper.

Halvdan the Viking is a series by Martin Widmark and illustrator Mats Vänehem, about the young boy Halvdan who finds himself in one adventure after the other, together with his friend Meia.
