Frälsarkransen

Frälsarkransen Beyond Rescue

August Strindberg #4

The summer heat has finally come to stay and crayfish season is just around the corner. August’s wish for a family has been realized and he and Maria are enjoying their life as newly minted parents. But then a shade from August’s past turns up; someone in his family appears to have carried a great secret.

Their idyllic community is once more shaken to its core as an elderly couple is found poisoned. Residents of the area for fifty years, the couple were well-liked by all. Who would wish them ill? The investigation lands on Maria’s desk, but there’s something boiling under the surface in her team. What is her colleague Ray-Ray hiding? The case proves to have an even darker side to it than anyone could have imagined…

Reviews

  • “The fourth book is terribly exciting.”

    Dagens Nyheter, Sweden

  • “Ohlsson has mastered the art of writing about cozy settings. /…/ In parallel, another theme recurs: dysfunctional families and their dark secrets. (…) Ohlsson does it well. ”

    BTJ, Sweden

  • “I am delighted to meet the genre’s most endearing protagonist, and one of its most imaginative authors. /…/ Her creative supply of imagination seems to be endless, there is some kind of perpetual motion machine that constantly serves unexpected characters, events, twists, and many other ingredients at an extremely high level of entertainment. Time flies by when you’re reading. This is top class entertainment!”

    Kapprakt, Sweden

  • Kristina Ohlsson continues to convince in her portrayals of Hovenäset and the main character, August Strindberg. /…/ It’s the contrasts that make it work so well in her books, partly the beauty of the environments and characters, but also these hideous crimes that hide very dark family secrets. There is also something constantly happening in the characters’ relationships that moves the plot forward. In short, it never gets boring.”

    Bohuslänningen, Sweden

  • Beyond Rescue offers a sweaty read in one sitting but also manages to maintain the feel-good atmosphere that is the hallmark of the series. It’s the perfect balance between suspense and relationship turmoil. (…) You read to get the solution to the case, but just as much to find out how things will go for colleagues in love and, not least, Strindberg and his little family. The book is over 500 pages but easy to chew, and it ends faster than the weather changes on the west coast.”

    Göteborgs-Posten, Sweden
