Hirvikaava The Moose Paradox
The Rabbit Factor Trilogy #2
Crime, love, and the biggest moose in Finland. Is mathematics the key to everything?
Insurance mathematician Henri Koskinen has just restored order in his life as well as in the adventure park he now owns, when a man from the past appears – and turns everything upside down again. More problems arise when the park’s equipment supplier is taken over by a shady trio: Why won’t Suomen Leikki Ltd sell the new Moose Jump to Henri when he needs it for the park’s main attraction? At the same time, Henri’s relationship with the artist Laura Helanto is reaching a breaking point. To survive, Henri Koskinen has to count with more precision than ever – and to push every calculation to its limits.

“This mix of slapstick and dry wit, ably translated by Hackston, is a refreshing change from the decidedly gloomier crime fiction for which Scandinavia is known.”
-
“[Antti Tuomainen’s] writing is assured and attentive. Like his chief actuary, Tuomainen has developed a working formula. His crime novels are made up of high quality. ”
-
“It is not often that I laugh out loud when reading a book, but while reading The Moose Paradox this rare sound echoed in my living room no less than five times. And in between there were giggles. Toumainen’s style is (…) dryly insightful and analytical but very funny and offers a large portion of good humor and an intrinsic joy of storytelling. Just what the doctor orders for November darkness.”

“If The Rabbit Factor was already a bullseye, then what do you call The Moose Paradox, which is even funnier, jazzier and more suspenseful? /…/ Henri Koskinen is a superbly thrilling character in Tuomainen’s crime novels that are a breed of their own. Ever since his first novel, the author’s narration has been distinctively original and led us in surprising directions. In The Moose Paradox, the style is honed to perfection, making you burst into laughter and your heart skip a beat as you wish Henri all the best. /…/ In the end, the plot threads are classily tied together… Previously, Tuomainen has kept to stand-alone novels, but in this first-ever sequel he jumps so high that if he keeps this up, the final instalment should reach the stars.”

“Antti Tuomainen’s The Moose Paradox is a coruscating comedy. ”
-
“ Charming, funny and clever, this is a novel to cheer up anyone who is finding life a little tough. ”
-
