Zombiefeber Zombie Fever
The Monster Trilogy #1
It is the warmest summer in collective memory and everywhere you turn in Eldsala wasps are flying about. Yet despite this unusual infestation all is well in the small town – or at least it seems so initially. The summer takes a turn for the ghastly when people start falling ill, turning feverish and red–eyed. Herbert and his friend Sally are both gripped by a feeling of foreboding. Something terrible is about to happen. Together the two seek shelter in their secret hideout, the abandoned mill. There no living – or dead – will be able to reach them. Or will they?

“It’s a good thing we’re reading it out loud together: bloody and cinematic as it is, even I find myself shivering during certain scenes. But Ohlsson doesn’t just go for the frightening, painting also a fine portrait of the child protagonist, and letting a personal crisis become a rich and serious parallel plot thread. All three of us at home are looking forward to the sequel. ”

“An exciting book with many questions and a thrilling conclusion.”
-
“Zombie Fever is easy to read, in a good way. It’s thrilling and just scary enough for the one who doesn’t want to lay awake at night.”
-
“Darn, this is good. My soon to be 12-year-old read the back of the book and we then fought over who would get to read it. I won… So exciting! /…/ The novel has a realism that takes its readers seriously. /…/ Brilliant, I say!”
-
“With a cliffhanger at the end of almost every chapter, [Kristina Ohlsson] drives the plot forward. /…/ She also has an ability to pause in scenes and infuse ordinary life with mystery. In the houses empty rooms can be found, on the ground lies dead animals, and even the local swimming school is transformed into a frightening place.”

“…An inconceivably thrilling tale. Once picked up, the book is hard to put down. /…/ an excellent chapter book, both for the 9-12-year-olds with a tendency to read several books a week, and for children who might have a harder time reading. Zombie Fever is exciting, easy to read, and during the course of the tale small clues are given, which allows the reader to think about what might happen later on in the book – brilliantly fun!”

“Kristina Ohlsson has a satisfying prose that’s balanced between dialogue, plot, and the protagonist’s thoughts and reactions. /…/ The result is a well-written and gripping story with a nice balance of realism and horror, a story that ought to have the reader longing for the next installment in the series.”
-
“Kristina Ohlsson is incredibly skilled at crafting an atmosphere with an exact and succinct prose. Zombie Fever is an unputdownable novel since every chapter is ended on a real cliff-hanger.”
