
The weekly Norwegian bestseller lists
Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes’ Operation Trickster climbs a spot on the Norwegian bestseller list for hardcovers, landing at No. 2 in week 8. Horst grabs another No. 2 placement together with Thomas Enger and their co-written Smoke Screen, the second installment in the Blix & Ramm series.
Meanwhile on the nonfiction list, Frida Ramstedt makes her debut with Make Yourself at Home: The Ultimate Guide to Interior Decorating. The guide comes in at No. 6.

Kristoffer Metcalfe joins Salomonsson Agency
Norwegian writer and director Kristoffer Metcalfe is with his extensive experience from the film and TV industry perhaps most known for his success TV series, Twin (2019).
Metcalfe graduated from The Norwegian Film School in 2008, after which he went on to direct several acclaimed shorts. He made his directorial debut in 2011 with the Norwegian comedy feature, Cupid’s Balls, a film packed with humor, romantic summer nights, and intense conflicts. Metcalfe also has a background in creative production and development production.
Metcalfe is the creator, writer and director behind the celebrated Norwegian drama series Twin, starring Kristofer Hivju, known for his role in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Twin had its world premiere at Series Mania, is sold to over 46 countries, and was awarded third place at Prix Europa for ‘Best European TV Fiction’.

‘When the Doves Disappeared’ acquired by SF Studios
This weekend, SF Studios announced that it will be the Nordic distributor of the upcoming film adaption of Sofi Oksanen's bestselling novel When the Doves Disappeared. Cinematic Inc. will produce the feature, with Antti J. Jokinen attached to direct.
When the Doves Disappeared is a story of occupation, resistance, and collaboration in Estonia during and after World War II, when the boundaries and power structures of Europe changed dramatically. Oksanen’s novel traces these changes as seen through the eyes and lives of one Estonian family.

Niklas Natt och Dag No. 2 in Spain
Niklas Natt och Dag maintains a steady hold of the No. 2 position on the Spanish official bestseller list, which he first nabbed three weeks ago with his debut novel The Wolf and the Watchman. The novel also features at No. 5 on the Catalan equivalent.

The weekly Swedish bestseller lists
Jo Nesbø and Kristina Ohlsson each grab one No. 1 placement on the official weekly bestseller lists in Sweden. Jo Nesbø’s Knife is No. 1 on the paperback list, where it has now reigned at the top for four consecutive weeks. Kristina Ohlsson’s hit children’s book The Mystery of the Haunted Fortress is also No. 1, rising to the top of the children’s list once more. Niklas Natt och Dag’s 1794 also climbs the lists, appearing at No. 3 in hardcover.

Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes’ Operation Trickster climbs the official Norwegian hardcover bestseller list, and comes in at No. 3 this week. Operation Trickster is the 17th book in the Detective Agency No. 2 series.

Monika Fagerholm and Matias Faldbakken shortlisted for the Nordic Council Literature Prize
Monika Fagerholm’s Who Killed Bambi? and Matias Faldbakken’s We Are Five are shortlisted for the 2020 Nordic Council Literature Prize. Instituted in 1962, the Literature Prize has since been awarded annually to a work of fiction written in one of the Nordic languages that is of “high literary and artistic quality”.
Among previous winners are Sofi Oksanen, Per Petterson and Tomas Tranströmer, to mention a few.

A Higher Justice, Hjorth & Rosenfeldt’s sixth novel in the series about Sebastian Bergman, is No. 4 on Der Spiegel’s bestseller list for paperbacks this week.

Lars Kepler is the best-selling author of the decade in Sweden
It’s now official that Lars Kepler was the best-selling author of the decade in Sweden, across all categories, genres and formats.
In a press release that went out today, Albert Bonniers Förlag states the following:
“Albert Bonniers Förlag can gratifyingly boast the decade’s greatest authorship, in Lars Kepler. The crime duo has had more No. 1 placements, and top ten-positions across the bestseller lists outlining the book industry’s joint annual sales, than any other author – Swedish or international.
In the fiction category, which includes both Swedish and translated books, Lars Kepler saw the most No. 1 placements (4) and positions in total (13) on Svensk Bokhandel’s top ten-bestseller lists outlining the book industry’s joint annual sales. In a summation of all the categories – fiction, non-fiction, children’s and YA, paperback, audio books and e-books – Lars Kepler likewise holds the most No. 1 placements (7) and the most placements in total (38) on Svensk Bokhandel’s top ten-bestseller lists detailing the book industry’s joint annual sales.”
