‘The Electric State’ chosen as Illustrated Book of the Year by Russian readers

Simon Stålenhag’s international bestseller The Electric State has been voted 2018’s “Illustrated Book of the Year” by the readers of the Russian online journal Mir Fantastiki. The journal goes on to praise the work, describing it in the following manner: “Extremely realistic illustrations record what is happening with photographic accuracy – an unforgettable experience!”

The weekly Swedish bestseller lists

Stina Jackson’s The Silver Road remains No. 1 on the paperback and e-book bestseller lists also this week. Lars Kepler’s Lazarus claims a spot on both the hardcover and e-book lists, coming in at No. 3 in physical format and No. 4 in digital. On the children’s bestseller list, Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes shoot to No. 4 with their recently published activity book, The Search for The Thief’s Thief.

Sofia Lundberg shortlisted for a ‘Prix des lecteurs Plume Libre’

Sofia Lundberg’s international hit debut, The Red Address Book, has been shortlisted for a Prix des lecteurs Plume Libre 2019 in France. The category is ‘La Plume Romanesque’ (The Novel Feather), and the vote is open to all readers until February 17th.

Mona Masri joins Salomonsson Agency

During her career, Swedish screenwriter Mona Masri has worked as a writer, journalist, documentary maker and essayist for major Swedish media such as Dagens Nyheter, Sveriges Television and Sveriges Radio, where she also hosted the culture programs OBS Magasin and P1 Kultur for several years.

In 2018, Masri received an Ingmar Bergman scholarship and was selected by the Swedish Film Institute as one of five Swedish participants in the Nordic Film Lab, a program for upcoming Nordic Filmmakers.

Masri is currently writing the Danish drama series Amal for HBO Nordic. She is also working on her first feature film alongside several other film and TV projects in both Sweden and Denmark.

Stina Jackson and Lars Kepler on the Swedish bestseller lists

The official bestseller lists of week 5 (January 28th – February 3rd) see Stina Jackson’s The Silver Road appear at No. 1 on both the paperback and e-book lists. Lars Kepler and Lazarus come in just after Jackson on the e-book list, claiming the No. 2 spot.

‘To Plant a Flag’ shortlisted for an Edda Award

Bobbie Peers’ To Plant a Flag has been shortlisted for a 2019 Edda Award in Iceland. The category which To Plant a Flag is nominated in is ‘Best Short Film’.

The Edda Award is an accolade bestowed by The Icelandic Film and Television Academy (Íslensku Kvikmynda- og Sjónvarpsverðlaunin), and is the most prominent film and television award in Iceland. The winning works will be announced at the Edda Festival of 2019, held on February 22 in Austurbæ and broadcast on RÚV, the national public-service broadcasting organization of Iceland.

The January bestseller lists in Sweden

Stina Jackson dominates the January bestseller lists in Sweden, nabbing three No. 1 spots all together with her debut The Silver Road. The novel comes in first on the paperback, e-book and audio lists. Lars Kepler and Lazarus likewise occupy multiple list positions, coming in at No. 3 on the hardcover list and No. 2 on the e-book one.

Jo Nesbø’s stand-alone bestseller Macbeth meanwhile features on the monthly paperback list, claiming the No. 3 spot in this category. The Wolf and the Watchman by Niklas Natt och Dag brings home a No. 4 placement on the e-book list.

‘Operation Sable Forest’ and ‘Lazarus’ on the Norwegian bestseller lists

The just published Operation Sable Forest jumps right up to No. 2 on the official weekly bestseller list for hardcover fiction in Norway. Operation Sable Forest is the fifteenth book in Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes’ popular crime fiction series for children, Detective Agency No. 2.

Lars Kepler’s long-running bestseller Lazarus meanwhile comes in at No. 4 on the e-book list. Lazarus is the seventh novel in the Joona Linna series.

Trygve Allister Diesen joins Salomonsson Agency

Trygve Allister Diesen is one of Norway’s most prolific directors and manuscript writers, known for taking on thriller, crime and human drama projects focusing on visceral, cinematic storytelling and emotional yet grounded performances.

His feature Hold My Heart (2002) was chosen as Norway’s submission to the Oscars, while his third film and English-language debut Red (2008) premiered at Sundance, starring Brian Cox in an award-winning performance.

Diesen is currently attached to the TV series Wisting, Norway’s biggest-ever drama production, based on the renowned literary series by Jørn Lier Horst. Besides being the director, Diesen is one of the much-anticipated crime series’ writers and creators. Wisting will premiere on Viaplay in 2019.
