Paradis City

Paradis City

Sweden in a near future were segregation and crime have run amok. In order to protect the rest of society, walls have been constructed around the “no-go” zones where the residents are controlled by “special area laws”. The biggest of these areas is Järva, also known as Paradis City.

When the popular but controversial Minister of the Interior Eva Basarto Henrikssons is about to hold her election speech, the worst possible thing happens. The riot fences are knocked over, shots are fired and she is taken away by masked men. A political meltdown is imminent, and the authorities demand solutions by any means necessary. The Home Security Agent Fredrika Falck turns to Emir, a former MMA fighter facing a life sentence in prison, with an ultimatum. Go undercover in Paradis City and find the minister if he ever wants to see his daughter again.

  • “The suspense is even straight through. /…/ [Paradis City] is a show to lose yourself in, with impressive cliffhangers and unexpected twists. /…/ The acting is very nice, and the action scenes are well-made.”

  • “An ambitious and high-tempo action thriller which hands the Swedish audience something fresh. Paradis City aims high. Its roots rest in Swedish crime as we usually know it, but parallel to that, Lapidus’ dystopia allows the series to go all out and include action elements obviously inspired by bigger, international, productions. This is a successful fusion between two very different styles, which makes Paradis City attractive. /…/ In many ways, we are served the very best of two worlds here. Paradis City really stands out in Swedish streaming with its ambitions – and that is exactly what this genre deserves and needs to not be completely watered down. These ambitions pave the way for something really good, and the result is indeed good – this is definitely a TV show worth watching, it guarantees entertainment. /…/ One of [Paradis City’s] greatest strengths is, without a doubt, the many impressive acting performances. /…/ Paradis City is a show worth watching, and that borders on something amazing (…). [T]his is without a doubt an entertaining and ambitious investment which gives Swedish crime an injection of energy and instils a sense of gratitude in me. A much-needed TV show.”
