Lars Kepler and Jørn Lier Horst & Thomas Enger reprise their placements on last week’s paperback bestseller list, coming in at No. 1 with The Mirror Man and No. 2 with Unhinged respectively. The e-book list meanwhile sees two names making a comeback: Katrine Engberg with The Tenant, which places at No. 3, and Anders de la Motte with Rites of Spring, which places at No. 4.

Premiere for ‘Huss’ on Viaplay

The new crime drama Huss is a series of five films starring Karin Franz Körlof as the daughter of the iconic detective Irene Huss, the protagonist of twelve classic films based on the novels by Helene Tursten.

A fresh graduate of the Swedish police academy, Katarina Huss has just started her job patrolling the streets of Gothenburg. But there’s more to the work than just solving crimes, as Katarina will discover. Besides getting to know her new colleagues and the local community, she must also win the support of her mother, Irene, who isn’t convinced by her daughter’s choice of career.

Jörgen Bergmark is the director and writer of the series together with Anna Platt, Hans Jörnlind and Peter Lindblom.

Huss premieres March 19 on Viaplay across the Nordic region.

It’s now official that Hans Rosenfeldt’s When Crying Wolf has sold more than 100.000 copies in Sweden alone. For this achievement, Hans received the “Norstedtaren” – a trophy from his publishing house Norstedts.

Yrsa Sigurdardóttir awarded The Blood Drop

Yrsa Sigurdardóttir’s The Prey is the winner of the 2020 Blood Drop Award for ‘Best Crime Novel of the Year.’ The Blood Drop Award is an Icelandic crime fiction award, annually presented by the Crime Writers of Iceland association and the winner becomes the Icelandic nomination for the Glass Key, an award given annually to a crime novel from one of the Nordic countries.

Katrine Engberg and Stina Jackson on The Times’ Best of 2021 list

British daily newspaper The Times has compiled a list of the best thrillers and crime novels of 2021 so far. Featuring on the high-profile list are Katrine Engberg and Stina Jackson, with The Butterfly House and The Last Snow respectively.

The Times on The Butterfly House: “Original and absorbing. [Katrine Engberg] is a name to look out for.”

On The Last Snow: “A gripping novel, full of love and dread, that leaves you reeling when the killer of one of Sweden’s richest men is revealed.”

Jens Lapidus and Anne Holt No. 1 in Sweden

Jens Lapidus’ The No-Go Zone doesn’t budge from its place atop the e-book and audio bestseller lists in Sweden. Anne Holt’s A Necessary Death is likewise a steady presence at No. 1 on the paperback list.

Hans Rosenfeldt to adapt CJ Tudor’s ‘The Burning Girls’

Hans Rosenfeldt has found his new project – adapting CJ Tudor’s bestselling novel The Burning Girls into a TV series. Rosenfeldt will work with Marcella producer Buccaneer Media to adapt the book, who follows Reverend Jack Brooks and her daughter as they make a fresh start in Chapel Croft, but soon the close-knit community’s dark history begins to reveal itself.

Buccaneer co-CEO Wood says: “The Burning Girls is a terrific story; it’s very easy to see how CJ Tudor has risen to the top of the charts in pretty short order. Her ability to tell a truly gripping story is exceptional.”

Rosenfeldt adds: “I’ve been longing to get back to London and to work with Buccaneer again and when Tony sent me a copy of The Burning Girls I thought ‘Yes, this is what we should do!’ I loved the book, its characters, the setting, the horror elements and the many twists and surprises.”
