Lisa Ridzén has received Region Jämtland Härjedalen’s Culture Scholarship for her debut When The Cranes Fly South.

Region Jämtland Härjedalen Culture Scholarships are annually handed out to three people active in different art fields, and Ridzén is the recipient of the scholarship for literature.

The motivation for Lisa Ridzén receiving this year’s scholarship reads as follows:

“With an appealing language and a particular ability to depict characters with tenderness, Lisa Ridzén – based in Hegled in Orrviken – writes in a way that affects, is felt deeply and inspires reflection. In a generationally transcending character gallery she captures the unspoken conflicts in both family life and friendships, at the same time as she frames the issues and broodings that an aging person can be confronted with. An authorship that will be most exciting to follow ahead.”

The scholarship ceremony will take place on the 17th of October at Storsjöteatern.

A harsh winter caused significant damage to the dam gates in Farrisvannet, and before summer, the water was drained for repairs. In the intense summer heat, the remaining water level drops rapidly, and the idyllic lake transforms into a barren wasteland.

Dry Land is the seventeenth installment in Jørn Lier Horst’s William Wisting series.

Actors Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, and Avengers directors Anthony and Joe Russo are heading to New York Comic Con to discuss their upcoming film The Electric State, based on Simon Stålenhag’s work.

The official Netflix panel for The Electric State is set for Thursday, October 17th, at NYCC, where attendees will be treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the highly anticipated action-adventure movie, which is set for release next year.

Quisling: The Final Days had its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, where it was very well-received. Since its premiere, it has been met with fantastic reviews in Norwegian as well as international press.

The script is written by Anna Bache-Wiig and Siv Rajendram Eliassen with Erik Poppe directing.

The Quisling-project also includes a TV series for TV2, which goes further into the stories surrounding Quisling. A premiere date for the TV series will be announced soon.

Cina Friedner’s The Worst Thing That Could Happen is Everything has been shortlisted for this year’s Children’s Novel Prize in Karlstad. Sixth-grade students in Karlstad will read and work with the nominated books during the upcoming semester, after which they will vote for their favorite.

In December, more than 800 students from 17 different schools will choose the best book.
