Jo Nesbø awarded the 2023 Francisco Gonzalez Ledesma Award

Jo Nesbø has been bestowed with the prestigious Francisco Gonzalez Ledesma Award – an award that recognizes a lifetime of storytelling, instituted in honor of the Spanish journalist and writer Francisco González Ledesma, one of the foremost Spanish noir novelists of the 20th century. The chosen winner is selected by the VLC Negra organization in recognition of their outstanding performance within the genre, their literary quality, and the values ​​and exemplary human qualities that they display.

The award is handed over during a special event within the VLC Negra festival, which took place this Friday, and whose objective is to remember the figure of Francisco González Ledesma and encourage the reading of his work, as well as pay homage to the award-winning author. It has previously been received by James Ellroy, Andreu Martín, and Alicia Giménez Bartlett among others.

Ulf Kvensler No. 2 in Sweden

Agnes Ravatn (b. 1983) made her debut with the novel Week 53 in 2007, followed by three critically acclaimed and award-winning essay collections: Standing still (2011), Popular Reading (2011) and Operation self-discipline (2014). Her award-winning novel The Bird Tribunal (2013), became an international bestseller, was translated into seventeen languages, and made into a successful play. In 2020, she published the psychological thriller The Seven Doors, which, amongst other awards, was longlisted for the CWA International Dagger.

With the psychological drama The Guests, Ravatn once again shows proof of why she is the one to look out for in the genre. Her thought-provoking writing and keen eye for human weakness  draws the reader into a spine-tingling scenery, where something more menacing hides beneath the surface.

‘Top Dog Season 2’ to premiere on C More and TV4

May 8 will see the premiere of the second season of Top Dog, which is freely based on Swedish author Jens Lapidus’s bestselling books The VIP Room, Stockholm Delete and Top Dog.

Hans Jörnlind, Charlotte Lesche and Axel Stjärne are the writers of season 2, with Alexis Almström and Ahmed Abdullahi directing.

Top Dog Season 2 premieres on C More May 8 and on TV4 May 17.

Trailer release for ‘Ingen ängel’

Viaplay has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming comedy slasher series Ingen ängel, created by EliSophie André and directed by Tuna Özer.
