The nominees for the 2023 Adlibris Awards have been announced. Adlibris is the leading book retailer in the Nordics and the award was founded in 2019 to celebrate the site’s biggest titles. The nominated works have been selected by a jury of Adlibris employees, but the winners will be voted forth by the public. The winning titles will be announced on January 25, 2024.

In the category “Fiction of the Year,” Niklas Natt och Dag competes with Hope and Destiny.

In “Children’s Book of the Year, Ages 0-6,” Sarah Sheppard and David Sundin have both received a nomination. Sheppard for her Animals of the City, and Sundin for his You Must Be QUIET Now!.

Lastly, in the category “Children’s Book of the Year, Ages 6-12,” Martin Widmark vies for the winning title with The Dinosaur Mystery.

A Nearly Normal Family, which premiered November 24 to rave reviews, claimed the number one spot on the official list of non-English TV-series. Just few days after its release, the crime-drama can count more than 6.4 million views and is No.1 in 34 countries.

The series is based on Mattias Edvardsson’s best-selling novel of the same name. Anna Platt and Hans Jörnlind are the series’ writers, with Per Hanefjord directing.

With over 25 years in the film industry, Viktor Åkerblom is a seasoned actor, renowned in both Scandinavian and international cinema.

Åkerblom has just completed filming a regular part in a major American production, set to premiere early 2024.

Other recent achievements include the upcoming feature Arthur the King, in which he acts alongside Mark Wahlberg.

Previously, Åkerblom has made notable performances in the Cannes-winning and Oscar-nominated feature Border (2018), TV thriller series Agent Hamilton (2020), highly appreciated TV comedy Solsidan (2021) childrens’ favourite LasseMajas detektivbyrå (2021), TV series Familjen Andersson (2023) and feature Mareld (2019) which Åkerblom also produced.

Additionally, Åkerblom is recognized as one of Sweden’s top voice talents, presenting his voice to numerous projects, including over 150 audiobooks. Nevertheless, Åkerblom is a physical actor with a lot of experience in making his own stunts and as a motion capture actor.

Jørn Lier Horst and Hans Jørgen Sandnes have been awarded the Teskjekjerring Award for their bestselling series The Detective Agency No. 2, with the jury motivation: “This year’s recipients have made an invaluable contribution to the love of reading among Norwegian children. The duo’s book series has sold over three million copies in Norway alone.”

The Teskjekjerring Award is part of the Alf Prøysen Honorary Awards, which were founded in the name of Norwegian poet, author, and singer Alf Prøysen. The Prøysen Award and the Teskjekjerring Award have been awarded annually since 1974 for outstanding efforts in one of the fields in which Prøysen himself was active. The Teskjekjerring Award places special emphasis on art aimed toward children.

The much awaited Swedish crime-drama A Nearly Normal Family premieres globally on Netflix November 24, and has already received great reviews.
